In recent years, electronic music has grown considerably in popularity and is currently the second most streamed music genre on digital platforms in the UK.
But the electronic music scene wouldn’t be what it is today without its DJs. From true legends like Tiësto and Daft Punk to new and emerging talent like Peggy Gou and Fred again.., these artists are responsible for creating some of the world’s most loved tunes.

Methodology
We used sites such as ChartMasters and DJ Mag to create a seed list of the most popular male DJs, and I Am Ghost Producer for female DJs.
We also used ChartMasters’ ‘Most Monthly Listeners on Spotify’ to gather each DJ's monthly Spotify listeners.
We used Google Keyword Planner to gather the number of searches for each DJ's name over the last year. For any DJs whose name may have an alternate meaning, their name was followed by ‘DJ’ for the search term.
We used Ahrefs to gather the number of articles with titles mentioning the DJ. Again, for any DJs whose name may have an alternate meaning, their name was followed by ‘DJ’ for the search term.
We used Instagram and TikTok to gather DJ follower counts on both platforms.
Finally, we gave each DJ a normalised score out of ten for each factor and then took an average across all factors to form our DJ score.
The electronic music industry statistics were sourced from the ‘Electronic Beats, Economic Treats’ report.
Streaming statistics were sourced from Kworb.
